The Cub Scout’s guide to finding treasure
The Geocaching Answer Key
for Parents and more information about Troop 577 can be found at www.HIJKLMNO.com
Avast ye, lads and lassies! Thanks for attending
this activity made by Troop 577. We are pleased to have you attempt to find our
geocaches. Within them you may find some very interesting stuff; please take
one per scout and sibling. All hearties should sign the log within as well.
You
will need:
·
This sheet, it has the
locations of our geocaches in both decimal degrees and degrees,
minutes, seconds. *Those are the two usable forms of pinpointing.
·
Google
Maps; if that won’t work, use the
map app you have that lets you pinpoint specific places.
·
On Google Maps, you can
change between street view and satellite view. I recommend using street view
for getting to Grasslawn Park and satellite view for
finding geocaches.
How to pinpoint with Google Maps
Google Maps (uses decimal degrees):
Enter the decimal degrees of the geocache you are
searching for into the search bar and around there the geocache specified will
be hid.
Ex. 48.293811, -11.095544 (check for negatives and include them if
they’re there). We have also given the
GPS coordinates in degrees, minutes, and seconds, if you prefer to enter them
that way.
*If the written hint isn’t
enough, you can look at the picture hint (www.HIJKLMNO.com)
